I will therefore share my favorite Bible passages with you all.

I was brought up reciting my father's daily favorite, Psalm 51, "Have mercy on me, Oh God in your goodness..."
My grandfather's favorite story was Peter swearing and denying Jesus, "...and then the cock crew for the third time." To this day when I hear that story in church, I choke up.

I have since grown up and now I have come home to my own favorites.

Psalm 69: "Save me, God! The water is already up to my neck..."
Isaiah, chapter 6, verses 8b and 9a: "Whom shall I send? Who will be our messenger?" "Here I am, Lord, send me."
John's gospel, chapter 9, the man born blind.
Night Prayer from the official night prayer of the Church: "Lord,
We beg you to visit this house and banish from it all the deadly power of the enemy. May your holy angels dwell here to keep us in peace, And may your blessing be upon us always. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen"

This night prayer was the last prayer recited in our home every single night with our two boys before going to bed.

We have to remember that the Our Father and the Hail Mary come to us from the Bible too. I'll bet that many of us don't think about that often.

We have so many wonderful prayers that have survived throuigh the centuries. Let's keep then on our lips and in our hearts so that we can accustom ourselveas to be close to God, His mother and His devoted disciples.Papa Puttsshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00565128278576668444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29447354.post-15300172031608343582007-06-08T18:17:00.000-07:002007-06-08T18:17:00.000-07:00"He who is without sin cast the first stone." I re..."He who is without sin cast the first stone." I remind myself of this every chance I get so I can learn not to judge other people and their misgivings and meekly accept them with all their human frailties. Love your website. My most recent memory verse is 1 Timothy 1:15-17:

"It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost. Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example to all who believe in Him for eternal life."

Another favorite is Romans 5:8

"God demonstrated his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

rich
www.richmaffeobooks.comRich Maffeohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07499633873603333492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29447354.post-61737970873629580012007-06-07T14:40:00.000-07:002007-06-07T14:40:00.000-07:00Friends:Dennis and I are friends.
