Thursday

Come Holy thursday, should women be among 12 whose feet will be washed?"

By Paul Dion, STL

There are a lot of fashions making the rounds in the celebration of Holy Week Solemnities. One of them concerns the washing of the feet of the "twelve Apostles on Holy Thursday. Some churches include women in the line-up of the twelve people who get their feet washed.

ParishWorld.net has an opinion about this and so does the Church. What is yours?

Do you think that the line-up of the twelve people who will get their feet weashed by the pastor of the parish should incude women?

Post a comment today and share your thoughts with the rest of our ParishWorld.net readers/. In a few days we will post the ParishWorld.net response to the Burning Question.

Of course! Jesus came to serve all people - men and women alike. And he died for all of us - men and women alike.

Why not? I understand that women have ten toes.

No! Women should not be part of the twelve whose feet will be washed. This is a female commenting. God gave us each different roles, not because He loved men more than woman. The twelve apostles were all men, priest are all men,but yet He chose our Blessed Mother, a women, as His most perfect master piece. We as women have such a beautiful role in life that is to be Mothers. And from the beginning men were choosen by God for other duties and we should respect that.
