Why don't we invoke saints from the Old Testament?

    BIBLICAL PROOF OF INTERCESSION
OF SAINT'S (OT SAINT'S) IS FOUND
IN THE NEW TEST ON MOUNT TABOR!
SAINT SPEAKING TO CHRIST THE ONE
    MEDIATOR.

  2. Great catch! Thank you. Catholics do indeed invoke the intercession of Old Testament Saints, just as "Anonymous" points out. Moses and Elijah of course were near and dear to the heart of Jesus for reasons that are too long to elucidate here. Coming down from Mount Tabor let's take what we learn about this from the prayers of the Church, not the least of which is the Litany of the Saints.
    Saint Michael, Pray for us.
    Saint Gabriel, Pray for us.
    Saint Raphael, Pray for us.
All ye holy angels and archangels, Pray for us.
All ye holy orders of blessed spirits, Pray for us.
Saint John the Baptist, Pray for us.
All ye holy patriarchs and prophets. Pray for us.
All ye holy priests and levites, Pray for us.

Now let us consider our personal practice of our faith in the naming of our children. How could I miss the names of associates and friends who are named after some of the most exhalted saints of the Old Testament, for example, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Nathan, David, Adam, Noah, Jacob, Daniel, Sarah, Hannah, Judith, Rachel, Rebecca, Ruth and Naomi. How did I misss that? After all, making a child carry the name of such a saint is the ultimate gift of intercessory relationship. I know, my father never let me forget why he named me Paul.

    Anonymous, thank you.

  3. Great points... I think by Saints, however, most people think about the canonized "Saints". But Isn't St. Anne and St. Joachim to bne considered OT Saints?

  5. It seem that when Jesus was on the cross some believed that He invoked Elijah (Matt 27:46-49; Mk 9:4). This shows that the invocation of saints was already believed in during the Passion of our Lord.
